Money can be powerful and poor financial management can have negative consequences. My curiosity about finance was sparked by the stress that finances can cause on people’s lives. I wanted to know how to avoid being in such a situation. After I turned 30, my curiosity became a genuine interest in finance. I wanted more information about the accounting sector.
Pathways to Banking and Finance is a program I took to increase my knowledge and skills in the field of finance. After hearing about the different careers that professionals have, I became interested in auditing. I was also given the chance to attend mock seminars, including ‘Behavioural economics’. These sessions sparked my curiosity about behavioural accounting. Pathways allowed me to do a virtual placement with Deutsche Bank. I learned a lot about consulting through the group project.
As I developed my knowledge of finance careers I realized that I had the best skills to become an accountant. Problem solving has always been something I enjoy. Accounting requires the ability to solve problems and think analytically. An accountant who fails to do so could cause a company to fail. I consider myself a logical individual, which is why I love mathematics. As a result of growing up in a diverse region, I am able to interact with varying types of people. Personal skills can be useful for all careers, but particularly accountancy due to the need to build relationships with clients. Accounting may not be a math-based profession, but it is still a very important one. I think my numerical aptitude will benefit me for an accountancy degree.
The degree’s versatility is what I am most interested in. Its modules range from economics to business law. Since I studied economics and law at A level, the combination of maths, economics, and law that the degree offers suits me. Accounting will give me practical skills. I can put into practice the key principles of accounting while living as a college student. Also, I’ll be able improve my analytical and financial knowledge. By completing work placements I can gain invaluable experience in the finance industry. It will also help me progress my career and will give me the necessary experience. As an accounting degree requires independent study, I am confident that I can organise my time well to achieve a work-life balance. My goal is to be well-informed and motivated to be successful. To prove my passion for finance and accounting, I will need to be challenged by learning different aspects.
My career will be greatly aided by accounting and finance. My goal is to become an audit after graduation. I am confident that I can achieve this with the information I gained through my studies. As an auditor, you would meet different people. You will gain insight about the key processes of various firms. Traveling for auditing will give me a chance to experience a different work day. After working as an auditor in my youth, I would like to move on to become a certified forensic accountant.
